I'm trying to decide between these two knives and am having a hard time deciding. The INFI looks like it would be a great steel to have, but the handle on the Swamp Rat RatManDeux LE looks more comfortable. SR-101 would steel be a great steel to have, but I'm wondering what others here on the board would suggest/prefer. Does anyone have both of these knives? Also, if you want to make a suggestion for a completely different knife, I don't have my heart completely set on a Busse, but that's where I'm leaning currently.
 
The edge retention on SR 101 is going to be better and its much cheaper. The RMDX gets my vote. The RMD has one of the most comfortable handles ever.
 
Blade length, the upper guard, and the satin finish. I would just pick up a RMD from the company store and save the money. The RMD is my alltime favorite blade. I think the length is perfect for its purpose and the upper guard on the RMDx would get in the way at least for my use.

Pick up a RMD for like 135 and if you dont love it put it on ebay and you will at least get your money pack if not make a buck or two. The jack just isn't worth the money and the RMDx looks sick but you have to ask yourself if the guard and extra inch are with the cost.

The Ratmandeux has a longer blade, a double guard, slightly different handle (similar, but still different), satin finish, and is of thinner stock.
 
Functionally, what is the difference between the intended uses of the ratmandeux larger blade and the smaller ratmandu?
 
Whatever the difference is between their intended uses, it's not enough to make me want to spend the extra money on the larger knife.

The RMD is a classic. It's one of the finest survival/utility blades ever made. Get it. You'll love it. :thumbup: :thumbup:

The RatManDeux LE seems like it would be better in a defensive role. With the full guard, longer length than the normal RMD and thinner stock. It looks like a sick knife.
 
To my mind the RMDx LE is a fighting knife. It really only needs a sharpened top clip to be perfect for that.

I generally prefer Swamp Rat myself. Nuthin wrong with INFI but SR-101 is a top steel too and Swamp Rat products are a damn sight cheaper and generally easier to get.
 
Thanks for the Suggestions. I ended up buying the ratmandu, just got it today. Looks like a pretty awesome blade.

I'm thinking of getting one and holding off on the folder for now.
 
I ordered the Le myself, and the ratmandu with black blade and tan micarta for my son. I cannot wait to get these in the mail. The last I checked they were in Peurto Rico. They went from there company store in KY, to louisville, then Peurto Rico, where they've been for 3 days. I hope they make it here to Massachusetts . Damn knives have traveled more than I have... Hell, I've never been to Peurto Rico!!! My experience has been Usps usually is very quick with shipping, better than Ups. I have to say Eric, at swamp rat is Great to deal with when ordering. We'll see.

Uh oh. Puerto Rico to get to Mass?!? I hope you get them soon. I have a RMDX LE and I love it. Still need to get a RMD...
 
Since you asked I will suggest the BOSS Jack. I have handled most of the newer SR line, but won't own any of the designs since they dropped Res-C.
