So a few months back I received my TGLB, and its my favorite knife, I just love the thing. But Busse are expensive and while Id like another, I have decided to look at Swamp Rat knives.

I am considering the Ratmandu CG, I like that I can pick the scales and the finish. I will be using the knife for general camping/ woods use. Batoning, fire craft, etc.. I have an axe so i dont need a chopper.

Is this a good choice for these task? or would I be better served by the ESEE 6? I can get the ESEE for $100 plus shipping and the Ratmandu is only a little bit more (I get Mil discount so Im assuming the RAT will be around $140.. not sure.)

I love Busse Knives, are the Swamp Rat knives just as good? How good is the SR101 steel? And sheath suggestions?

Thanks

I have both and I like them both but if I had to pick , no question RMD! If my RMD was full flat ground I would just sell the ESEE6. If it helps you ,I find the RMD handle much more pleasing to use.

SR101 is pretty much INFI that rusts. They are very similar as far as toughness and edge holding goes. SR101 is what the Kill Devil Sniper Hawk is made from, and there's a youtube video of a guy cutting a car & it's frame in half with one of those.

Buy Brown and Azwelke are two Busse/Swamp Rat sheath makers I've owned stuff from, and both are top notch.

I think you would really like the RMD CG for the use you describe. It's great around camp, especially paired up with an axe like you say, and it is perfect for batoning kindling with the sabre grind. The coating on the CG is tough, so if you keep the bevel oiled you should be okay for rust. As for SR101, it is dang tough and takes a great edge.

You mean the vid of the hillbilly with the big honkin' booger hanging out of his nose?
That car didn't have a frame, it's a unibody.
