Hey guys,

I'm trying to decide if I want to order a Ratweiler or the newly offered Busse Satin Jac Tac. Sure, there is a difference in price, $178.00 vs $247.00 for the basic knives, but what about the steel, quality, and overall satisfaction difference? Like most of you, I use my knives quite a bit for everything, cutting, chopping, and just good old self defense.

Just loooking for personal opinions... :p

Thanks

I am considering the SJ TAC myself. Thankfully I already have a Ratweiler and that eases the pain of my decision ;) . It depends if you see yourself doing any real chopping. If you want to be able to chop, pry and other tasks like building shelters and heavier camp chores definitely go with the Ratweiler and buy yourself a nice sheath with the extra dough. It holds an edge very well and is just an amazing knife!

The SJ TAC is made out of superior steel however (thinner though 3/16 vs 1/4 on the RW). It is going to be significantly lighter and still virtually indestructable...you will be able to pry with it. The grind and edge geometry on the SJ will make for a WICKED edge. The SJ will be as strong as a knife of its size and thickness can be...and when made of INFI, that is VERY strong!!! Not a real effective chopper by the looks of it.

It all boils down to the tasks you need if for really. Swamp Rat's SR101 is so close in performance. For me the SJ is the perfect companion for a tomahawk or for when I don't feel like I need a brute like the Ratweiler. You will scare sheeple less with the SJ if you come across them on the trail.

sounds like the sj is what i want... I want a busse.. but i also want sharpness. I'll have to take a look at that one
