How does the quality of the SR compare to the Ontario Rat series of knives? How would you rate the Ontario Rat overall compared to most knives?

I think I know how most of you will respond, but I'm having a little difficulty finding the SR. I'm looking for a 5-7 inch blade. Thanks

I'm no major expert but I think most will tell you that the D2 steel of the Ontario Rats is a good steel, but it is better in smaller knives. The Swamp Rat steel is just better for medium to large knives, that take more abuse.

As far as availability, the Swamp Rat store has the Mini Mojo (6.75" blade) in stock now, although only the model with the blade catch. If that doesn't work, Ranger knives might be the route to go. Theoretically, their 5160 steel would be a better choice for a medium sized hard use knife, and their styling and price are similar to the Ontario Rats.

I'm sure others will chime in.
