Does the warranty cover stupid 15 year old nephew damage?

This is my Brother in Laws that I gifted him...He recently went on a vacation and was staying with family..Well one of the nephews took it hiking and returned it this way...He wouldn't fess up to how it happened...What if anything will Swamp Rat do? I appreciate the help. I'm told my Bro-in-Law i'd find out.

Thanks didnt see my typo or the sticky...mods please delete thread if inappropriate..not complaining at all..just looking to see what to do...

Firestrike, please send your Rucki back to us and we will take a look at it. We will make sure that no further damage was done and fix the tip for you. That tip looks like it took a heck of a beating before breaking. We willl do whatever we can to make things as good as new.

Cool...you guys are great...in guessing it took a good beating...but I wasn't there to witness it, its a damn shame...

"one of the nephews took it hiking and returned it this way..."

I wonder how old the nephew is,
for some reason I keep seeing a teenager swinging that blade... :o

Glad they are taking care of you.

I have often wondered what happens if you managed to break an older Swamp Rat (like really bad, beyond fixing) what happens if they don't have any blanks?

I called them a few months ago and asked if they could make me a Ratweiler in the custom shop. They told me no, they don't have any blanks. This got me thinking, so what happens if someone has a Ratweiler or some other discontinued blade and it becomes damaged or broken beyond repair? How do they warranty something like that if they don't stock what is required to replace it?

If we do not have the blanks to replace an older model we will issue you a shop credit for the price of the knife when it was sold.

No blanks available for replacement means shop credit will be issued for the original retail price they were sold for…….so basically rare collectibles will likely equate to store credit being issued at much less than the current value of the knife on the secondary market. Kinda sucks, but really you should never need a replacement for most of these unless you are really good at doing stupid things to these knives….. i.e.. modding them in a poor way, destruction testing, etc.

That's kinda what I figured. They can't be replaced.
Which makes these old school blades much more valuable from that perspective.

Firestrike , how did your nephew do that damage ?

Not sure it is my Brother in laws Rat...he was In southern Oregon visiting family..when he was out and about our nephew (15 years old ) borrowed it for a hike...when my Brother In law returned home this is what he found...stupid kid woulnt fess up to how he did it...my guess he was stabbing trees...

It will be a few days before he gets it mailed off...any specific mailing instructions?

Just put a note in with it that says the tip was damaged and that it needs repaired. Also a return address and contact info.

Whenever anyone questions the price of a Busse & Kin blade, just remember that your getting more than the knife you hold in your hand. They stand by you almost %100 of the time.
unlike so many other warranties.. Busse truly has a NO "small print" kind of approach to backing their knives.

I just wanted to verify Swamp Rat's customer service. I had an issue with a Rucki and their answer was simple, "send it in". Simple, great.
