I believe that's what its called, right, Swamp Warden? I am looking for more info on the skeletonized necker that SR puts out (like Busse's Skelly Warden). Which steel is it made from? How thick is it? What finishes did it come in? What is the going rate for one?

Thanks,

Jarhead

SR101. Black, green, . . tan? . . . sage? (I've forgotten what colors. I'm pretty sure I have black and green ones.) Some were sterile, some with the logo. (I've got one logoized.)

They were VERY limited release. FAR less than I think Eric was expecting. I had to grab mine off of the XC after they came out. They were CHEAP! I wanna say $40 retail. I paid an average of $70-80 for mine.

They must be uber-rare or very popular b/c you don't see many on the XC.

Same blade profile as a Skella-Warden, but without hte center handle support. .185" vs .195" and the grind looks nicer than a Skella-warden.

They were released for $58.95 at Fall Knob Creek 2007. An interesting bit of trivia was that they were unnamed, originally referred to as "Rat Wardens", but "Swamp Warden" was the name that stuck. I believe they came in Black, Muddy, Olive, and Sage. As previously noted, they are SR101. Measurements are 7-inch OAL with a 3-inch blade and 1/4-inch choil, 3/16-inch thick.

They were very fast sellers, usually gone within an hour or so of becoming available. If he'd received more, I believe Eric could have easily sold twice what he did.

I have seen a few of them pop up on the exchange over the past couple months for about $100 or so, but they are gone so doggone fast I don't get the chance to say the magic words. I think you about need to live on that page if you want to get anything even remotely rare.

Thanks for the info guys. I would really like to try SR101 and I think the Rat/Swamp Warden is going to be my vehicle. All I need to do is track one down.

Great little blade, here is mine at home in a Swamp.....

Wish I would have gotten so many more of these at that price when they first came out....

We need more of these, Eric!

would be great if these were re-released. i wouldn't mind a constant supply of small 3.5" or so SR101 blades, with no scales and even in comp finish, to be available at a somewhat frequent rate at a decent price.

This sort of thing would provide a great way for people not familiar with SRKW's products and steel to get a pretty inexpensive taste of what they are all about. Would probably generate quite a bit of demand for larger items.

I have a Swamp Warden and I love it. Since you can hardly get one anymore, try checking out the RAT IZULA (I have one of those also). It is 1095 steel, not SR101, but it is similar in size and shape. Runs around $60 dollars and it includes a sheath.

Does anyone know where I can get a few extra paracord lanyards that came with the Swamp Wardens?

hey jarhead, just as an fyi, I just got one after posting on wanted to buy. Neat little knife- longer than I thought. I got a response a few days after posting- came with sheath for $105. easy-shmeezy

Good steal, rpn. Some guys were paying more than that a year ago with NO sheath!

"rpn" - LOL. engineer or finance guy?

Same here, posted a wanted to buy add and a couple days later I had one.

Give it a shot!!!

One just sold in 6 minutes!!! Happy hunting!:p Those little buggers are red hot!!

I first saw them at Blade West 2007. At the time I was waiting on the Busse AAS to be released but when I saw the Swamp Warden at $59 I couldn't pass it up. I grabbed up two of them. I think I saw one or two at the Eugene show in April 2008 but none since then. Great little knives wish I would have gotten one or two more when the getting was good. Also passed on a RMD at the Eugene Show. Oops.

nice job, enjoy!

i got a rainwalker sheath for mine a couple ago...nice set up!

My warden arrived this afternoon!! It is everything I hoped it would be. Haven't decided if I am going to use it or not. I generally use all my knives, but she is so damn pretty!

Here are a few pictures I took real quick before heading off to work tonight.
