I’d like to know your opinion on this match between these two medium utility knives!
Which one would you chose as a camp/kitchen knife?

Thw Swamp Rat has a better warranty than the Spyderco. I also think the handle of the Bog Dog looks more comfy than the Perrin.

I've got a Perrin. I love it for food prep and light chores, but it's way too light IMO for chopping if that's part of the duty. VG-10 is probably too brittle for heavy use as well. I like the handle way better than I thought I would, once again, if you're going to chop wood up, the handle is probably a little small.

I don't know that VG10 is a brittle steel at all. Remember, it was designed for the Japanese horticulture industry for grafting knives. A grafting knife has to be razor sharp and still be able to pry those little cuts out. The Perrin, though, might be a little too thinnly ground and lightweight for a camp knife. I like the Swamp Rat in this scenario.

I can't comment on the Perrin, but I do have a Bog Dog. It lives in the kitchen and my wife loves it. She treats it like a $3 Wal Mart special and it is holding up more than well. She uses it much harder than I ever did. It would serve you well.
