Swapping blades on a LM Ti

I originally had a TTi, but I longed for scissors, so I exchanged for a Ti. But man, ever since I've really be missing the cutting hook on the serrated blade. Is there anyway to order a replacement serrated blade with a cutting hook and change it out? SOG sells some of their multi-tool blades for good prices, but I haven't been able to find anything about Leatherman replacements?

Thanks!

Luke

Huh. Well, maybe since the introduction (or at some other point in time) of the Aluminum Charge's they changed the models. I see that the Charge Ti is no longer available through Leatherman. ???

I could be wrong, but I was certain that is why I exchanged the two.

Well, I like the needle nose pliers better on the Ti, so my question still stands. Is there a way to purchase just the serrated blade with the cutting hook... and then to exchange them?

My TTi has scissors, too. I do not believe you can buy a hook type blade seperately. But you may be able to cannibalize another tool and get one that way. I'm only guessing though because I've never taken an LM apart. Good luck and let us know. -DT

The LM site states in their FAQ that they don't send out parts because of the way the tools are specially sealed.

So bummer.

That's what I figured. Your best bet is probably to try to find a used LM and swap out the blades. Just make sure they are interchangeable. I have heard some guys say that you shouldn't dismantle these tools but others have said that it's easy. Again, with no personal experience I'm only guessing. BTW, what sort of uses do you have for the hook blade? Just curious. -DT

I really liked having the hook to cut things in odd locations. Some wire through a small hole, rope that's a bit to high to get to, etc... I also liked it for pulling things close that are just out of reach.

And part of it is a "Well, why shouldn't I have one?"

Where I bought my Ti (and my former TTi) they allow me to exchange it for life, for any reason. So I've thought about getting a newer TTi (unless I'm crazy and the TTi I originally had really did have scissors), or an aluminum one.

Any thoughts on exchanging my Ti?

This might help.
