Swapping blades?

I have two 110s one is a 420 HC with a finger-grooved handle. The other is a Alaskan Guide 110 from Cabela's. I would like to put the S30V blade in the knife with the finger-grooved handle.

How much would Buck charge to do something like that?

I'm not sure about the S30V blade, but you can calculate the cost of a custom 110 on the Buck website with either an ATS-34 or BG-42 blade with any number of knife options. I'm sure someone from Buck can answer the specific S30V question.

I do know that they will put a new BG-42 blade in an old handle for about $35. Maybe you should just put a BG-42 blade in the finger groove handle you have. It will be just as good as the S30V. Then you will have a finger-groove model with BG-42 and the Alaskan Guide 110 with S30V, that would make a great pair (as well as difficult decisions when it's time to take one out!)

You won't be disappointed with the BG-42 blade. I have compared a Buck BG-42 blade with a Spyderco S30V blade, and the Buck BG-42 held its edge longer in cardboard and pine. My brother compared a Buck BG-42 with a Buck S30V, in cardboard, and he says the BG-42 was a little better in edgeholding. Both are great steels, especially with Buck's heat treat.
