Swapping leek blades

Does anyone know if I can put one of the newer S30V leek blades on the stainless handle of the plain jane leek (model 1660)? I just don't like non-metallic handles but I definitely would like the blade upgrade from 440A to S30V.

Thanks,

NP

After performing my day to day cutting chores over the last month, I'm of the opinion that the 440A Leek blade (if that is the steel in the plain jane Leek) is not much different in edge holding than S30V. Obviously there are different iterations of "cutting chores" so, this will not be consistently the case. But for the typical box opening and wire cutting/stripping duties that dominate my usage, I don't see much difference.

I too like the stainless handle.

Anyway, I apologize for not being able to directly answer your question.

Actually that's helpful. No sense in spending $80 on a S30V leek and bastardizing it if it's not going to help in edge holding. Sounds like your daily cutting chores are about the same as mine. Thanks for the reply.

I have an S30V "stonewashed" G-10 combo-edge.
I took it apart completely to properly sand the scales down and sand the paint off the screws. The blade and inner workings are very simple and seem to be identical to the other leeks. I was worried that it wouldn't work the same afterwards, but it is engineered pretty precisely.
Just make sure to re-lube the spring-assist chamber in the handle.
