I'm considering buying a pair of Swarovski SLC 10X42 binos. I have looked at a few sites and it looks like there are no smokin deals so far.

Anybody know a good dealer that I can check out?

Thanks.

Thanks for the tips. I checked a few out already. Cabelas has them for sale right now for $1,399.00. But so does everyone else. No hurry.

I don't know a thing about their binoculars, but have several of their rifle scopes and swear by them. Seriously expensive stuff, but worth every penny (if only for the pleasure of watching your friends drool all over themselves). I'm sure you can beat Cabela's prices if you shop around, but right now (and probably until Christmas) they're running all sorts of sales. If you're not on their mail/e-mail list, call customer service and ask about what deals you qualify for. Betcha you can save a hundred bucks or more if you try.

I have had a pair if 8X30 SLCs for 20 years and they are awesome. I sent them back for a refurbish in June and they came back with new rubber armor, the old roll down eye cups were replaced with screw down eyepieces and the prisms were replaced. The cost for this was $0.00.
Swarovski's are expensive but i believe well worth the price.

I highly recommend Doug at Cameraland NY, check their demo page as well. Doug will send you a pair for a few days for review, if you don't like them send them back for full refund less shipping.

Go ahead, get them. But make sure you charge your hunting buddies for every time they borrow them. Even at $5/look you'll be suprised how quick they pay for themselves.

Seriously though, I too have sent mine back for service just to have them returned looking brand new. One of the best pieces of gear I've ever bought.

You are going to be hard pressed to find them any cheaper. I have the same pair that you want and scored them for $1100 from a friend whose Uncle is a rep/dealer or something like that. They are definitely worth the money. I will keep an eye out for y
ou.

If you wait until Feb., sometimes a few places like SWFA will get SHOT Show demo models. Typically there were handled for a few days but are in perfect shape. Sometimes go for a few hundred less than new ones. You might call and ask if they expect to get any.

I have a Swaro 1.5-6 x 42mm illuminated reticle scope and really like it. The binocs are also great but I tried them all at SHOT and, frankly, I liked the Zeisses just a tad better.

Pro tip. Check out the Nikon EDG series and the Pentax DCF ED's. The Nikons are supposedly the best pair available in the world (or so says their advertising stats, so take that with a grain of salt) and the Pentax DCF ED's give similar performance and a super low price. I've played around with both sets AND Swarovski's...and for the money I'd go with the Pentax. I've found that they tend to give the best performance-for-expense ratio. :)

Funny you mention the Pentax binos because that's what I have (10 x 42 mm), along with some considerably older Nikons. I think the Pentaxes are excellent and a very fine value. However, when I compared them with the Zeisses and Swaros at SHOT, I had to give a slight edge to the Euroglass. Nonetheless, as you astutely point out, it was a slight edge for a LOT more money.

The Swaros are great optics.. However IMO the difference between them and some other brands have closed up in the last few years, as other companies have really stepped up the quality level.

In a side by side blind test, a lot of people wouldn't notice the difference.
Except when they pay for them :D
