So let me first say I'm a Busse noob. I have fantasized about getting one for a while but just couldn't bring myself to spend the money as I actually want to use them. Recently I finally took the plunge with a few purchases from the exchange here. I got a Mountainmandu and a Swatmandu for what I felt were very reasonable prices. I still haven't bought the Busses I really want but these are a start I guess. I don't think I have gorilla hands but I do where XL gloves. The Mountainmandu fits nicely in my hand and is comfortable. The Swatmandu handle is a little small for me I think, not unusable but not as big as I would like. I absolutely love everything else about the knife, the weight, length and look are great. I originally looked at a few Boss Jacks but a lot of reviews said they felt the grip was too thin for them. So looking at the Swatmandu it seemed to be bigger and I got one. Does Busse make larger slabs to fit the knife and make it more customizable?

No, but you can send it in to have them put in liners, or even double liners.

you can send it to the Custom Shop & they could remove the handles & add colored liners , then reattach, which would increase width...or perhaps they could fit some "magnum" handles which are wider without liners...

drop Garth an email...he can give you all your options:

I have the same problem, and after talking to Lexi at Busse the only option seems to be single or double liners. I was hoping for some magnum handles as well but was informed that liners were the only option.

CapF,

I'd recommend double liners if the grip is too "thin" for you on the SMD. I ordered my SwatManDu with liners and they made the grip about the same thickness as the original Gen1 RMD I have here, so if you're looking for something to fill the hand better, double up on the liner thickness when you send it in. Another positive to double liners is you can go with one color or really go fancy and go with two colors for a nice custom look.

Hope that helps and congrats on your first Busse-kin blades!!!

Swatmandu is a Busse, it's also INFI... So you have a Busse, congrats. Welcome to the best knife community ever

If after all that you find the SMD still too small for you, take a look at the SJTAC. It's like a RMD/SMD but scaled up.

Interesting you make the comment about the slabs on the swatmandu. I had my normal ratmandus out today along with my swat mandu and a sr rmd infi version and the infi versions were quite a bit more filling in the hand for me. I have a rmd blk/grn g10 handles on sage in a spartan blades sheath and the normal rmd is very snug in that sheath while the swatmandu is loose. The handles and the blade were noticibly thicker.

Yeah, I found the SwatManDu (with single liners) and my original RMD have the same tension in my kydex RMD sheath and the INFIDu (w/o liners) I had was a loose fit in the same sheath. Makes finding a sheath easy when I need it, but I wish I had ordered double liners now. Ya don't know until they arrive though.

Yeah, have 'em add liners. I have red liners on mine with black canvas and it feels amazing... Looks great too ;)
