Any suggestions on a swayback with wharncliffe blade? I'm really wanting the GEC #47. I'm new to traditional style knives, and am a tactical knife guy, but like many of the slip joints I've seen. So basically the #47 is the style I'm looking at. Hoping for something with good blade centering, durable. So is there any others I should be looking at? Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

If you're looking for a swayback, look at the GEC #48 Improved Trapper. The #48 has a Wharncliffe and a Clip blade.

I carry a #47 Viper as my EDC knife and it works great for opening packages, letters, boxes etc. Has a 1/2 stop which I really like. I carry it in a pocket sheath and feel naked without it. I do have a #48 Improved Trapper with a Wharncliffe blade, (I collect Wharncliffes) but I don't carry that one, that one is on my display shelf.

The #22 Magnum is another consideration. Smaller but a nice size clip main and a pen blade for just about any job you need.

Here are 2 of my personal favorites. Both are great knives, different and well suited for everyday carry.

I agree with Half Stop.

I think if you are transitioning over from modern folders, you will appreciate the size/heft of the #47.

You have a really fine SBJ there Ron!

Thanks for the info so far. I will look into these suggestions, also how is quality of Schatt and Morgan compared to GEC?

The Schatt & Morgan knives are made by Queen. Quality is less consistent than GEC, but they are very well made. The Heritage series seem to be a little rougher. If you're looking at the large Wharncliff swayback they made a couple years ago those are nice knives. They are bigger than the GEC Viper.

Wharncliffe?! Get yourself a Lambsfoot ;)

Thank you very much guys. That one is in oxhorn, but generally they come in rosewood (Charlie has my rosewood one). I just got one in ebony, which I still need to photograph

I love that oxhorn handle, Jack! It looks like an "inner light" is illuminating it!

That oxhorn is amazing Jack Black!

These Barnboard & Damascus Sway Back Gents are out there right now but in limited supply (run of 500).

I was looking for this Lambsfoot when I commented on r8shells Lambsfoot in the What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today? thread. Very nice knife Jack:thumbup: I have been looking at these for a long time and now I know it gets positive endorsements from both of you. Glad I'm not going crazy and glad I didn't try to post it over there because I really butchered that post. haha :foot:
