Ok I ordered an $86 about OKC M-7b bayonet. I need to dull the swedge for making it legal for an "EVIL DAGGER STATE!" for putting on my AR uppers that have the bayonet lug. Hmmm...I need to order practice rubber bayonets I just remembered.

I was thinking of using a file to dull the top side of the "Spear Point" swedge.

Any one have any other advice or tips to remove little metal as possible?

I'm going to do this to the "Kraton" handled one I ordered. Or would one with the plastic molded handle I have (2 of) be wiser?

Before doing it I'd thought I'd ask for experted advice here, and I got a few swedged knives as well I might dullerize so I can carry them as well out side my domicile.

I would personally use a flat diamond sharpening stone square to the blade, if you want pretty quick removal but controllable and no heat. There are belt sanders of course if you want speed of removal but care is required to not make to much heat.

Take care your state doesn't have a law pertaining to "affixing a bayonet" mine does. Also you will need to square off the edge not just dull it , effectively making it no longer an "edge" at all. Plenty of dull knives have been evidence in trials, being dull isn't enough.
