Swedge sharpening

Aside from the question of whether it become a double-edged knife for legal purposes, can the swedge of a BK 7 or BK 10 be sharpened? Another way to phrase the question: is the swedge heat treated and or tempered the same way as the edge?

The swedge on my BK1 is sharpened. I got it that way, didn't do it myself. There was a BK9HH I believe, that came with the swedge sharpened. Not sure about the tempering.

I'm pretty sure the whole blade (not the handle) is tempered the same. You can still sharpen the swedge if you want, though. Belt grinder helps, and don't overheat the blade, but it's totally doable. Even with stones, sandpaper or file.....just way more tedious. Post up some photos when you're done.......
