Do any of you folks have any info on this type of knife? It is shown in this video @ :50
The way the blade slides back into the handle has me interested in its construction. I would like to try to make one of these one day. Any pics and info would be greatly appreciated.

He strikes me as a gentleman who does not take any guff off a customer with fit or finish issues or questions with one of his knives.
I'd pay a 20$ bill to see him upset with his hat on
I don't have an answer on your knife question. Good day
Willard, this made me laugh! I think I need one of those hats.

Some are nailed, others are screwed or glued.
Btw it is said that touching the bobble brings you luck. I never tried. :)

I tried to google this but couldn't find anything. Kind of reminds me of barrel knife (in Finnish tynnyripuukko) where the blade can be taken apart and hidden inside the handle.

By a hatty coincidence, I just posted this in the EDC thread! :D

Interesting knife, looks a lot simpler than a Barrel Knife
The universe works i mysterious waaaaays. :D Is that the English version of Dennis the Menace? I like the simplistic design of that knife and that you can possibly shorten the blade length.

Bobble touching sounds like a risky endeavor. :D Have you seen these type of knives before with these different constructions?

I tried the Google route too but like you I had no luck. The barrel knife is also on my list of to make someday. I just really like the simplicity and usefulness of this design.

Don't we have any Swedish carpenters on the Porch?:D

Would a finish Carpenter be pretty close?
:D:D Close enough for me! ;) Good one, W.M.B.

FBC, that is an interesting knife to which you drew our attention, but I know nothing about it. The guy in the video is pretty interesting himself. I have to confess his toolshed reminds me of my office: lots of incredible and random treasures in there, but you can never find what you want when you need it. Just to mention a couple of "big" things that caught me eye: at least a couple of old hockey sticks, a two-person crosscut saw, but no bathroom tiles! ;)

By another coincidence, both the British and US comic characters, Dennis The Menace appeared in the same month in 1951. This character is Minnie The Minx, who appeared two years later :)

I suspect that touching the bobble on the bonnet of one of the Scottish regiments could indeed be risky! Mini's too! :D

I occasionally see Swedish Barrel Knives for sale, but they're always very pricey.
