Swedish "Cordura" Rucksack W/Frame

I've not seen those before, but I rather like the looks of them. Nice size for gear, with room for sleeping bag at the bottom. Stinks if it rains though!

I'm not but I might pick one up.... From my experience with other swedish products such as the mora I can assume they take thier outdoor recreation seriously

I have one, but the straps are marked as being Israeli; the packs are the same

The waist strap is difficult to unhook because it is a leather belt; be sure to take a reamer and stretch the holes out. The shoulder straps are thin but amazingly adequate. The frame is very rigid and very comfortable; I've taken the back off and hooked my Blackhawk pack to the frame. The pack is good; one large cavity with back pocket inside.

It's solid!

External frame packs are falling out of style and you can buy really nice ones cheap at garage sales and thrift stores. I got a nice Jansport rig at Goodwill last week for $5! I've set aside Kelty, REI, and Jansport packs for the whole family and none were more than $8.

Packs are rarely waterproof, unless really made for that purpose, like ones made for rafting. Even with items inside your pack they need some sort of extra protection from moisture. Garbage bags are okay, but trash compactor bags are really tough. I use the Sea to Summit silnylon stuff sacks with a roll closure. They work great for strapping stuff on the outside of an external frame pack too.

i have the same bag and i take it on every camping trip but it doesn't have comfortable shoulder straps

Those are cool. I like the old school style, but I still prefer a modern internal frame for efficiency and comfort. Incidentally, I believe the majority of European packers use externals. Interesting if correct. . .

I have an older version of the same military pack. Mine is canvas and leather, a lot of leather. Cross straps, belly straps, steel frame etc. Anything that I have bought as Swedish surplus has been great. The cross straping and belly straps on mine were designed for a soldier to run while wearing the pack.

I had the surplus version too. Comfort will be determined by what your wearing. A woolen layering system is going to feel better than some summer shirt ( Hint- they're from Sweden.) Get a good leather dressing and not silicone. Silicone makes things nice and shiny, is water repellant and prematurely chews up leather. A quality saddle butter like Skidmores, Lexol etc is best. There are also canvas waterproofings used by packers for tents and tarps. Or, you can easily sew up a waterproof pack cover like a bottom fitted sheet or invest in the oversized ponchos that will drape over a pack. I like to let my packs breath a little, slows down condensation and mildew inside. But I have to wonder. If equipment is soaking wet, what kind of shape is the bearer? Are we talking comfort and survival or some goofball contest run by a T.V. bobblehead? There comes a time when you makecamp, crawl under your shelter and brew up your favourite hot drink and listen to the rain.

Packs Like these are Part of my Problem. I have 10 cheap packs but when I really want to go camping none of them are what I want.

Ill save my 30 towards My next Kelty or Mountain Hardware.

:foot: Just convincing myself not to order it
