It appears I have a ?gransfors bruks? double bit axe head...but rough! but it has AXE HEAD MADE IN SWEDEN and the Swedish crown in a circle on the same side of the head opposite bits...but cannot read below the crown...then there is the 3 1/2 on the other side for weight....Is this a gransfors bruks, or SandVik or what Hults?

Pretty rough I know...still some of that baby blue paint left.

I have 4 doubles now....two true tempers, a plumb, and an unmarked redwood falling axe [puget sound style]...oh yeah and a Forest Service cruiser and a comp throwing axe.....never use them either...

Probably just need to sell this one.

Looks like the crown I've seen on old Gransfors axes. A wire cup brush on an angle grinder might reveal more of that crown stamp and make that axe a little easier to sell - if that's what you decide to do with it.

Pegs has it right. break out the wire cup brush on an angle grinder. certainly the fastest and easiest way to clean that sucker up. even if you decide to sell it, you'll want to clean it up at least a little bit. just don't sharpen it on the grinder like all the fools at the local flea market do!

Sure, the stamp gives the first indication of origin but the pale blue paint does as well so you should go lightly with the clean-up measures trying also not to score the surface with overly aggressive wire brushing, I never like seeing that.

Carefully cleaned, sharpened and hung on a nice handle, that axe would probably fetch a nice price.

The pale blue is Gransfors color.

I don't get what you're trying to reiterate other than maybe it is so that my point about a secondary confirmation of the origins was misunderstood. Basically it was just a restatement of the old bible saying "better in the mouths of two or three witnesses..."
