I finally decided to replace my small Fiskars hatchet with the real thing, so I got me a Small Forest Axe from Gransfors Bruks. She's a beauty! I'm sure many of you own and use one but I cant' help myself! :D So here we go:

Some action pics and a review this weekend!

nice... i love those GB small forest axe's.. i have the wildlife hatchet and the mini.. both see a lot of use..

I can't wait to use it! I'll probably do some testing this weekend at work, I'll take some pics.
BTW, what would the price in the US for one of these? I got it here from an online shop and I payed 91 bucks, shipping included.

GBs are sure nice.

I carry a Wetterlings myself. I can't see any difference at all in performance between that brand and GB.

I agree. My mini is the most beautiful piece of gear I own. 91 bucks seems about right but I'm not sure.

Damn, I though this was going to be about hot blonde women. . .

GBs are great.

Just out of curiosity, why not get the Scandinavian Forest Axe? 6" of haft isn't much more weight, nor is it hard to carry if you're lashing it to your pack, but gives more options.

Just curious, the Small Forest is one of the best "large hatchets" out there.

That's a good question. I chose the Small Forest Axe because I had in mind some one handed, more precise chopping chores and I needed a hatchet that would fit into my pack or maybe even carry on my belt while hunting (although 20 inches of handle can be a little too much to carry on your belt:D) Butchering large game is the other thing I had in mind for this baby (unfortunately they didn't have the Hunter's Axe in stock). This one fits perfectly in my hand and also has the perfect weight (1 1/2 lb). Overall, I needed more a sturdy hatchet then a somewhat bulky and long axe.
Oh, and I realize I ave absolutely no excuse for the lack of blonde women in my post! :D

Sex blonde perhaps not but I love the curves of that scandy. Trying to decide between it and the bigger one. I have the smaller one and it came razor sharp ask my fingers :)

You won't regret getting it. That's a great price. I paid $105 shipped about a year ago here in the states. Don't let the size fool you. This axe will handle most anything you need to do in the bush. If I need more cutting power, I get out the Stihl. I never even touch my large axes any more.

funny you say that! I have a very nice Ox Head large felling axe, about three times the weight of my GB SFA, and i can fell faster with the GB and with less fatigue than the Iltis Oxhead :D

That being said, MAAAAAAAAAN that Iltis rings LOUD & CLEAR!
