Good evening everyone, today I picked up this awesome Swedish made hatchet at a local flea market for the whopping price of $5! It is in very good shape and looks to have the original handle. The hatchet weighs somewhere between a pound and a pound and a half. It used to be painted blue and the only markings are a made in sweden stamp as well as a "G". I cannot figure out what type of hatchet this is. I read somewhere that it was a Gransfors Bruks, But I don't know of them ever using a stamp like this. Here are some pictures. Thanks for the help.

That stamp is entirely a new one on me, that's why I haven't commented. It doesn't look to have the usual flat cheeks which is a real plus! The Swedes produced 'north American-shaped' heads for export during the 1950s through to the 80s and likely as not this is a perfect example of one. This will be a quality-made tool using good steel so don't be shy about devoting time to resurrecting it.

Wow. Thanks for the information. I have never heard of Gefle Vapen. Looks like I'll have to do some more reading in the days to come.
