I was watching a story on 60 Minutes on a disputed finding of "suicide" by U.S. Army investigators where a guy was found stabbed 26 times with a Leatherman Took (twice through the heart), and they referenced a Swedish paper on knife-related homicide and suicide by a Dr. Thore Karlsson. An Alta Vista search turned up this executive summary.

One thing worth noting is that people who do that sort of thing normally do not do it sober.

That is interesting Jim, Any idea what it said? Besides that a. immigrants stab more immigrants. b. The better you know someone the more times you get to stab them. and c. If you want to frame your wife for your Homicide/Murder, make sure that the knife travels upward after it enters your chest.

JKM; I saw the same program, with the illustration of the wounds. Several had tearing, associated with twisting the knife, and there was considerable difference in the angle of the stab wounds.

Two did indeed penetrate the left ventricle (this is usually almost immediately incapacitating). The USA spokesman who claimed that this was suicide was, amazingly, able to say this with a straight face.

There was a case in the distant past of a person who allegedly shot himself several times in the chest with a bolt action rifle.

So it goes. Walt

"a male killed a male, eight out of ten perpetrators and seven out of ten victims were inebriated by alcohol
About a quarter of the offenders had sharp injuries on their hands when apprehended"

The answer is:
When out getting sloopy drunk bring a knife with a guard.
