Well, I thought this was so cool I had to share...
Anyways, I have a Sony-Erricson w810i callphone/digicam/mp3 player. Also happens to have decent 3gp/mp4 video support. So I got curious as to how well it'll play some movies or video clips. Well a little online research dug up this neat little tool. Used with the following settings, I converted an .mpg clip from SNL into 3gp format and downloaded it tomy phone. Came out great! With my new 1gig pro duo memory stick, I can easily fit a movie on there too! So next up is encoding, I dunno maybe smokey and the bandit... See how that turns out.
The settings that worked good for my phone:
Format: MPEG4
V. Codec: MP4
A. Codec: AAC
Res.: 176x144
Max V. kbps: 96
Max v. Fps: 12.5/15
Stereo/Mono : Mono
A. Sample Rate: 12 000
Max A. Kbps:64
H(Horizontal) V(vertical): V
