Swick not on Spyderco website?

Did I miss something?

I think I want a Swick, but when I went for details at www.spyderco.com I did not see a thing about it anywhere.

Is it discontinued?

It was like a Sprint run.

Meaning it was a short run...if enough interest was shown in the model, they would have made more. They gather dust on the shelf for a reason beyond my understanding. The good news is you can still find them for sale. ;)

Where can they still be had? The Swick is a great design. I thought they'd be a sure hit, and I could put one up used. I guess I better shell out the bucks now before they are gone.

I bet if Spyderco made a 3 or 4 inch blade model, those would sell like crazy. As I just wrote in the Emerson forum section, those looooonger Perrin La Griffes on Bladeart look *WAY COOL*, but they're too expensive for the average Joe, and they rust easily, i.e. not so practical for neck carry.

The handle of the Swick comes to a sort of point, where the lanyard hole is.
I would have preferred a rounded handle, like the Emerson LaGriffe.

In fact, I just bought an Emerson LaGriffe. It was about ten bucks less expensive than the Swick, I liked the overall shorter length, and the fact that it's black. I think it's slightly lighter (in weight) overall as well.

Mee too. :D About 3 minutes ago.

:D

Yes, that pointy butt hurts to look at.
Personal preference of course, but many find the changes in the Swick handle an improvement over the previous Spot handle.

Subtle, but definitely there.

And I like the sheath on the Swick a whole lot better than the one on the Spot.

Thanks for the great pics, very useful.

Keep in mind you get no device to attach it to the belt nor ball chain or other string for hanging around the neck. You just get the sheath pictured. Although the sheath is set up to accept Tek-lok attachments.

One personal downside with my particular sheath is that it needs to be reheated. It doesn't quit have the retention required for neck knife carry. Having it drop to the floor on three seperate occasions (once on a basketball jump shot, once after leaning on a counter and once after a girlfriend hug) has made me retire my sheath for the Swick. Now other folks I know haven't had a problem but I did. :(

I used to run with my Spot in neck carry and it never budged from the sheath.

Just trying to give you complete info. :o I would still buy one, if I didn't already have one.

Yes, the tightness has to be exactly right for neck knife carry.
Actually, the situation you mentioned happenned to me with a Spot.
I sent it back to Spyderco, sheath knife and all, and they sent me a different one that fits right.

Anyway, my La Griffe arrived yesterday, and I am VERY happy with it. It's really a substantial piece of steel. Coating is excellent. Blazing sharp and great fit in the sheath.

I highly recommend it.
