I'm getting very close to pulling the trigger on a Swift, but I have a question of the group here. I've heard a couple of anecdotal incidents of the lock-bar spring breaking on this knife. I know that Cold Steel puts a lot of time and energy into endurance testing their products. My inclination is to think that these couple of stories about the lock-bar spring are exceptions rather than the rule (lemons if you will), but I wanted to hear from some Swift owners here before I move forward. Have most of you here had good luck with this model?

I would guess the lack of response is due to the model being relatively new and not that many people have them yet. On top of that, the ones that are out there probably haven't been used that much.

I've had mine for a couple months now, and I've opened/closed it several hundred times without issue. Ever since reading about those couple of incidents, I admit I've been paranoid about it breaking, but so far so good.

Im one of the guy that had the lockbar spring broken. The replacement i got from CS has been flipped more than the broken one and no issue so far. *However* ever since the last incidence i have had reserve when choosing this knife to go on a trip. But it's still in my EDC rotation.

Design & execution is different thing, something are just inherently weaker by design. A framelock knife with steel or titanium handle is still weaker than a triad lock knife with aluminum or even plastic handle. Regardless of whether it's a lemon or now, the lockbar spring by design is weaker than the normal triad lock spring, due to its thinness and the location of the weak point. So the chance of failure is definitely higher.

I like Swift's size, shape and the flatgrind blade, if only it's a manual knife...
