Attempted to Dye a Grey Para2 Toxic / Lime Green. Could not get the dye to take. Kept darkening the green. Ended up with Sea-foam Green (I do not recommend Spyderco make any knives in this color - it is hideous).

I'm no G10 dying noob, but I'm also not a veteran (I've only done a few scales and always to a much darker color). I was working on this one last night and I got impatient and started to add more and more Aqua-Marine (RIT's formula for Lime Green consists of Lemon-Yellow and Aqua-Marine). I added too much and the result was obviously not what I had hoped for.

When attempting to dye with the lighter colors, it just kept rinsing completely off (I'm guessing the Grey was too dark for the Yellow to do any good).

Now I've got two Choices - I can add more Green and go to the darker Forest Green (which will be boring since Spyderco is already making one of those) or I can add Red and make my attempt at Purple-ish...

I'm leaning towards Purple.

I like that color.i tried dying mine red and it came out a dark pink. i tried with black from there and it came out purple. I have since ordered cf scales from custom scale division out of germany. It will be three weeks Wednesday, cant wait for them to get here!

You can also use RIT Color Remover to remove the dye from the scale. I've used it on the occasions when I screwed up a dye job.

Go for purple, post results! Or use the color remover and re-do. I like toxic green and purple as handle colors, but the aqua-marine you ended up with isn't that bad IMO. Good luck!

I really like the way it turned out. It's cool to have a knife thats a decently attractive color and one that no one else has.

Like the time he tried to dye his hair lime green on one side and raspberry on the other! D

One would have to have a considerable amount of hair to do such a thing. Sadly, I do not. ;)
