I have not made a slip joint in a while so in order to keep my skills sharp I challenged myself to make a swing guard.

The blade is 3-3/8 in long made of 154CM. The guards are Chris Marks mosaic damascus. The bolsters are Dan Seaver Explosion pattern damascus. The scales are black linen micarta. Overall length open is 7-13/16 and 4-1/4 closed. Great walk and talk.
Thanks for looking,
Chuck

^^^ THAT'S a winner. Nice crisp grinds.

Bravo!

Chuck, I know you've made fancier knives, but dark beauties like this is what made me fall in love with your knives. This is a really sleek knife! Any man would be proud to carry this one.

I have done a couple as liner locks but never before as a slip-joint. The trick besides getting the guards to swing properly is to also have the spring flush in all 3 positions.

I feel like it has some Jess Horn influence with the grind and long slender shape.

Wow Chuck, that is one really great looking knife.

I'd love it as a liner lock, as it is, like it VERY much. It's an amazingly crisp and well rendered piece. I would prefer if the pivot screw was close the centerline of the grind.

Thanks for the kind words STeven. In order for the spine to stick up high enough to accommodate the guards when closed the pivot has to be moved down from the center.

Here are a couple that I did as liner locks.

The other ones look real nice, Chuck, but I like the OP best. Super tight, really makes you want to hold it.

Best Regards,

Clean looking knife!!!

The combination of materials is spot-on, too. A lock of some form is probably not a bad idea, but I doubt it would alter my opinion of the knife, as the overall elements are just right.

Did you score that mill from Uncle Si, Chuck?
