Does anyone know what steel is typically used for Swiss Army knives?

This is a bit of mystery to me. I have not been able to find a sepcification on that nor have I a posting here.

I am most interested in the steel in 'old style' (pre '07) Victorinox Soldier.

This fella here claims that Victorinox used to reveal their steel composition on their web site:
http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showpost.php?p=2193103&postcount=23
and he stated the composition was simiar to 425M, which would be a bit less Carbon than 440A, but likely similar performance. He also posted that the hardness range was 55-56, which is in the ballpark for either 425M or 440A.

I know it has not been from Sandvik; a Sandvik rep told me that they do not supply blade steel to Victorinox. They supply steel for other parts, but not blades.
