Swiss Army knives are still an important feature of daily modern life.

A basic Swiss Army knife with scissors offers endless grooming capabilities to 100s of 1000s of young men around the world. To those unfortunate working in Dubai or elsewhere in the world, a typical Swiss Army knife offers self trimming, self manicures, pedicures, and a whole lot of plucking facilities....otherwise offered at exorbitant prices, for next to nothing....self contained in an unbeatable package....

Why r people working in Dubai unfortunate?

Definately, if you have the Outside Buyer's Guide this year you'd have seen the Leatherman Manscaping advertisement, something along the lines of we know you do it, we all do it-behind closed doors bladdy bladdy blah with a picture of a leatherman with the scissors extended, implying that all outdoor recreation enthusiasts use their leatherman tools for personal grooming. I know I do! Nothin like pluckin nose hairs, trimming your moustache, or other particular areas with your favorite pocket survival tool... :D

I could not agree more, if I could REALLY have only one knife, it would have to be a SAK.

It took a while for me to come around to it but I definitely love my Soldier's Knife...now I want a One-Handed Trekker model so I'll have the tweezers and the toothpick. I was really surprised the Soldier didn't come with them...I mean come on...ya know...WTF is up with that?

Yeah, gotta love the SAKs. Pretty much my goto grooming tool when I don't feel like a trip to the bathroom.

Yeah, when I have my SAK( which is always) I never give a thought to carrying any other knife unless it's a special purpose trip.:) I do usually have a Spyderco or S&W folder with as well. My favorite carry fixed blades are not much if any bigger than the Vic Fireman. TH AD or Stompers Hiker backup as a rule. Sometimes the GW or SR. Heavy knives are only for truck arry or boat hunting.

Vics, like most knives, are an addiction. I just recently stumbled upon this disease. I bought a rucksack and love it but wanted something without the corkscrew so i bought a non one handed trekker (original?). then wanted something alittle smaller and bought a tinker. Then i hear all this fuss about alox saks so i bought a farmer. then i wanted a smaller alox sak and bought a cadet. i find that i carry the farmer solo most or the cadet paired with my milie. check back in a couple months and i bet ive got a few more.
