Are they a worth with tool on these knives . IM debating on geting a workchamp or a locksmith . The lock smith does not have the pliers.

Are they as useful as a set of pliers, no. Do they have some use, yes, even as simple as gripping things heavier than you could with a set of tweezers. The main limitation is the handle which doesn't lend itself to heavy use.

If you want pliers from swiss army, take the SwissTool instead. If the weight is your concern, then grab a leatherman. I don't see how SAK's pliers could do any heavy jobs.

They are good for extra heavy duty tweezers. Like holding something small and hot, or pulling a tack from a wall. They are not "real" pliers. All things can be used for something.

I just got the Workchamp off of eay for $43 ,like you guys said I could use them for something plus I get the scissors.

Depends what you're using them for. They work well on a fishing trip when you have to take that hook out of the fishes mouth.

I'm sure theirs dozens of other uses...but thats one that I know of that works well...

If pliers are important to you, then just get a multi-tool. Its way more functional and hefty. Other than the Swisstool and leatherman, theres also the powerlock.

The Victorinox SAK pliers are surprisingly strong for their size, but they obviously are not suitable for heavy duty tasks. Want real pliers in an SAK-sized package? Get one (or more) of the Leatherman Juice tools. The SAK will alway have a place in my heart, but the Juice tools have become a permanent fixture in my pocket.

Hi all.... Well I am a SAK afficionado!!! I have my trusty Swiss Champ wherever I go. I also have a Leatherman Supertool. One cannot compare the two of course. The Leatherman's pliers are much sturdier and bigger. The SAK pliers are great for all those smaller and in-between jobs, too big for a normal pair of tweezers. This is what is mostly required from me anyway. I hardly use a larger pliers in my everyday activities. My Leatherman Supertool is part of my outdoor survival pouch. I, however, always carry my SAK. I would recommend that you get one with all the tools on it including the pliers. They are most handy.
