I read some older reviews on the soldier from some of you guys. My question is since you have had them for quite some time I'd like some insight on the half serrated blade now that the honeymoon phase of the new knife is over. Are you still carrying them? How are the serrations holding up and are you able to keep them sharp? Looking at the soldier or the OHT. Like Mistwalker I like the OD but want info on the impression of the serrations and their long lasting performance in the bush.
Thanks,
Bill
It will still be accompanied with a fixed blade most of the time.

I'm not too up on the abbreviations, do you mean these ~

If so, I have used mine pretty consistantly for quite some time now and it is none the worse for wear. I have touched the blade up very lightly on the bottom of a coffee mug a few times and it is as sharp now as when I received it.

No regrets here !

I sold mine. I didn't need the one hand opening feature and it didn't do anything better then original alox soldier. I still edc the original.

OHT -one handed trekker, AAR-after action report.
I went ahead and ordered the soldier, I like the longer saw,OD handles, one hand opening and the serrations should add some extra cutting versatility. It will usually be paired up with my JK EDC,Bravo1 or a number of my other fixed blades. I have not noticed that knife in your previous post Pitdog.-seeing you carry it is a good endorsement in my book!

I carry the West German Army model and like it quite well. I like the one hand opening, warm on the serrations, not a fan of chisel grind, love the saw and the locking blade/screwdriver. It is a bit heavy but worth it to me for the use I get out of it. I carry a small Classic as well for the fine blade, scissors and toothpick. They complement each other well.

Forward serrrations are also common on steak knives, since they hold up to cutting on a ceramic plate better than a plain edge. I have a OHT and it makes a nice light woods knife, slips into a back pocket comfortably. I have a Photon microlight attached, which also helps like a lanyard to pull it out.

I like that photon lanyard idea, just happen to have one near the nightstand-it now has a new job

I do the same but with a whistle, always use one with the dogs so seemed the obvious thing to do.

I have the OHT. I didn't care for the serrations or grind so I had the blade reprofiled. I like it much better now!!

the OHT is by far one of my favorite swiss army knives. I have been lucky and found 3 plain edge so haven't worried about the serrations. they are a great great tool for sure. I use mine on a day to day. also take it out in the woods with me, love the saw and hell even used it to cut a bunch of pvc the other day. great tools especially for the money.

My soldier arrived today, red photon light is now affixed on lanyard. The serrated edge does shave! It zips through 550 nicely. It will get some field some tomorrow.
