I was thinking about getting my wife a Swiss Army knife as a gift. However, most of the versions I've seen are larger, heavier and have more features (screw drivers, etal) than she needs or would likely want. Are there smaller simpler incarnations of the design. Say with a couple of blades and a scissors? Something like that would be about perfect. Thanks.

Indeed there are small, light Victorinox that your wife will probably like.
I gave my girlfriend an executive as a present many years ago and she carries it every day. I'ts small and thin,so it fits almost every purse.
have also a look to a minichamp: i carry one of them with my car key and it's very useful and "polite" (sometimes it's simply unappropriate to whip out the bigger knife i usually have in the front pocket)
Go to http://www.victorinox.com/newsite/en/produkte/index.htm and have a look!
Oh, by the way...Merry Xmas :D

Have a look at the Victorinox Signature II.
2 1/4" closed. All feature pen blade, nail file with screwdriver tip, scissors, tweezer, retractable ball point pen and keyring.

The compact and executive are a good choices but the compact doesn't have a small blade. If she doesn't care about the scissors and just needs the blades a Secretary might work.......

First let me say that I love Swiss Army knives and I have alot of different models.
But both my wife and my mom like the Leatherman Micra better than any of the small Swiss knives.

Good luck,
Allen.
