So my grandpa gave me a brand new shiny champion plus for Christmas a few years ago after I was admiring his old champion that he had in the early 80s in the navy. I like it a lot and carry it a lot. I wouldn't say it's my edc, but once my zermatt pouch comes it might become it! Any info on them beyond what SAK wiki says? I know they were a special run, but they seem to be very easy to obtain. I decided to put this in this thread, but I'm still not sure if this would belong under multitools so if you could please tell me so next time I want to talk about a SAK I know where to go.

With the exception of the one-hand opening models, we consider SAKs in general to fall under the Traditional mantle. They are, at heart, lobster patterns. The lobster pattern dates back several centuries. Moreover, the SAK itself has existed as the "Swiss Army Knife" for well over a century.

However, if you have a specific question about a certain SAK model, you might find more answers in the multi-tool section.

Let's leave this here for a bit and see what answers you get. If you don't get enough info, you can ask for the thread to be moved to the Multi-Tool Forum. To do that, click the "report post" icon. (Triangle with an exclamation point in it at the bottom left of your opening post.)

It will be back when another big chain store wants to sell it, or when the marketing boys in Ibach decide there is enough pent up demand. The seven-layer SAK is too good an idea to drop forever. All it needs is a more useful replacement for the fish scaler — for example, Wenger's universal wrench.
