Swiss Memory USB

Anyone have any experience with the Swiss Army keychain knife with integrated USB flash drive? I am thinking it looks like a cool little gadget to have, but was wondering how useful the 64MB flash memory would actually be. This would be a great item for me though, majoring in computer science and a love of knives. :D

I already have plenty of other stuff on my keychain, so I guess what I need to decide is if this gadget would be worth the space, or I should maybe just get a larger USB flash memory instead. I am thinking of using it to store some useful apps for fixing/tweaking common computer problems. Just need to decide on what exactly it is that I would want to carry and see how much space I need. LOL, Guess I ansswered my own question in a way there. :footinmou ;) Would still like to hear from anyone who has actually tried one though.

I haven't tried one, but I do have a 64mb dealie that I use, and 9/10 of the time it's more than enough. Perfect for that "too big for floppy" situation. If I need bigger than 64, I tend to go with a CD anyway. .

What's the name of that knife? It sounds like a great one to add to my collection, or even my computer help tech bag. .

Aparently a 128MB version is going to be released too.

usb drives are awesome. my network at office is so locked down we don't have the ability to do crap to our computers, but win2k always recognizes usb drives <insert evil grin>

If nothing else you can haul 64megs of your favorite tunes to any computer! and if it comes with a knife, even better.

The trouble with that is a year from now 128meg will be laughable (actually, 128meg is pretty laughable now). A knife can last a long time. I still have knives I bought so long ago that if they'd had computer memory built into them it would have been a reel-to-reel tape drive ... or magnetic core memory ... it would be a few bits. Not megabytes, not kilobytes, not even bytes -- just a few bits.

I suppose if it's cheap enough you could just buy a new one every year or two....

I do realize that computer technology changes really rapidly, and 64MB, heck even 128MB is pretty laughable now. But what I am thinking of using this for I don't think I would need a heck of a lot of memory. Basically I just want to have a few key apps with me all the time. This way if I am out somewhere and a friend or family member says, "Hey, my computer is running like sh!t, help me!", I will have something to work with. I just checked and I can get a firewall, antivirus, various spyware apps, and optimization apps into about half of the 64MB.

I think I will be ordering one soon. ;) :D
