Hello to all,

I just purchased this bayonet at a gun show because I liked the looks of it. It looks like a elongated Gerber MkII. The model that I have posted in the title of this article is from a posting that I saw on Ebay. I am assuming that is the correct name for this bayonet. With that being said, does anyone know how to disassemble the pommel and grip from this bayonet with out destroying it? My hope is to fit it with a guard and some sort of pommel and in effect have a real nice svelte, hot rod looking dagger. Your comments would be greatly appreciated.

If you look at this Ebay Item # 744003311, you will see the bayonet I am speaking of.

Thanks.

TD, I believe you are correct in your description. These are nice looking blades of high quaility steel but will require significant reprofiling to have a keen edge.

I suggest to go over to Knife Forums and post this in their Military Knives forum section.

I have a few havent disassembled them thouhgh. It would definitely take alot of reprofiling to make this any kind of a cutter!!!
from the ones that I have there is a screw on bottom that holds the pommel on.

I have one, and took it apart a couple of years ago. If I remember correctly, you just unscrew the but piece. Be carful not to lose the spring in the pomel if you want to use it again. I am away from my house and will take a look at it when I get home to see if I remembered right. Will try and post again soon.

Ok, give this a try. Take the two screws on the butt off. Then you should be able to unscrew the butt directly off. If this does not work, send me an E-mail and I will break mine down and write out the steps for you. I think that should do it though. Reagan

Ok, I just broke mine down. Take the two screws out then the spring and round lock piece will come out. Use the screw driver in the hooked part where the round lock piece came out, and turn the pommel counter clock wise. When thats off you can take the plastic handle off (will probably take you a while, mine is on really tight). When the handle is off, the barrel holding cross guard will come off as well. Then you have the blade and tang. Good luck, Reagan
