Swiss steel

Was given a Swiss army knife that my wife cousin that was issued to him when he went into the Swiss army. The blades are much thicker than the sak that I bought here in the States. Would the steel be the same?
 
I believe the steel is the same, just a slightly heavier blade like the Pioneer. I assume your talking about a Soldier model.

It was the solider that I was referring to. I have two that look the same but one was made by Vic. and one by Wagner. The Wagner is from the 70s I believe.
