Swiss Tool RS or X ?

I recently got a great deal on a Swiss Tool RS at REI on clearance for $59.00. They sold out within minutes after posting them at their holiday sale. I wasn't quick enough to get one online before they sold out so I raced down to the local REI and snagged the last one from the display counter. Trouble is after checking the tool to the SAK web page it looks like I got the "X" model and not the "RS" model. The box says "RS" but it's clearly the "X". because it has a file and not the seat belt cutter (serrated blade) .I was disappointed because I wanted the second blade and didn't care if I had the file or not.

Should I take it back and risk not getting anything or keep the "X" and just be happy I got a good deal ?

Can you rationalize the day-to-day use of a seat belt cutter versus a metal file? You may not be freeing people trapped inside burning vehicles on a regular basis but you may not be also shaping a piece of metal often. If it was I who would choose, I would stick with the X model because I can always have the blade of the tool in lieu of the seatbelt cutter if need arises. However, a metal file has no immediate substitute and would necessitate a trip to the hardware store if one was needed.

As always, it's all up to you. Just letting you know my 2 cents.

If its the RS you want then take it back and demand an RS otherwise every time you hold it you will regret not doing it .Im lucky as i have both but i EDC the RS and keep the X as a spare , to be honest im not that bigger fan of the file on them .

Dunc

P.S let us know how you get on

I agree with dunc5. Return the X and demand for your RS. This way, you'll have peace of mind on your purchase. If the store can't give you your RS, then you could settle for the X or get a refund. =)

Like someone said, you won't be cutting seat belts all days, instead you can use the file and the scissors almost every day I carry both in my car and a Spirit in my belt all the time.

Keep the X and enjoy it, anyway it was a good choice!!!

Stick with the RS model... The steel plating of the file can be worn out.:thumbdn:
