Why do the exotic handled swisschamps lack a pen and pin? On the red cellidor handled swisschamp i gave mt brother a pen and pin are included. In my new hardwood swisschamp that's on the way, theres no pin or pen. What gives? And why is there a hardwood version? is it limited edition or special or something? Is it worth it? I got mine for 80$.

There is no pen or pin I imagine because cutting notches into hardwood for each model would drive the price up too much.

Is it worth the $30 (roughly) price difference over the regular swisschamp? Well the difference is mostly aesthetic, so that would depend on just how much you like hardwood. You are are also losing the 'plus' features with the hardwood handles.

If you want bang for the buck, then my personal choice is the champion plus. It's basically a swisschamp without the pliers, but it can be had for $30 or so. The lack of pliers might put some people off, but you get a lighter and slimmer tool, and really the SAK pliers are of limited use anyway because of their diminutive size.

id guess they omit these becasue the scale may crack with the routing, either at the time of make or later

i too was disappointed that my rosewood version didnt have these items

but i still love the knife
