Apologies for the off-site link, but this is a PDF file rather than an html file, so I can't paste the images.

SwissChamp Kit

The SwissChamp has to rank among my all-time favorite knives, ever. My father always carried one when I was growing up and there's just something super-classy about this incredibly useful, albeit very large, SAK.

Excellent review. The SAK (specifically Victorinox brand) ranks as one of my all time favorite series of knives and tools. At work, I usually have a Tinker on me. I also carry a Victorinox Spirit in a sheath attached to my bag with me where ever I go, and a SwissTool in my car. If someone told me that I could only carry one edged tool with me and had to leave all the rest behind, I would choose the SwissTool (probably because I don't have a SwissChamp).

Thank's for the free article Phil!
It's a neat review, as always.
But you fail to mention that these black leather pouches were quite bulky to wear (namely, if the wearer was small built), nice and classy as they were.
There were also Swiss green military rubberised canvas versions of this SOS/Survival pouch and another that was slightly narrower in width (now that would have been more managable for belt wear!).
The Swiss Champ carried in this pouch system never fails to amaze non-carrying folks who would normally go, "OMG!!!". You get the picture...
It would have been great to see Victorinox continue to make these Survival pouches today in a more humane size to make it pc belt wear.

Well, the pouch has to fit the knife. Only Herve Villechaize would find it impossible to carry.

True, the Swiss Champ is a large SAK to begin with.
And, oh.. "Herve Villechaize" could slip right into the pouch, if the SAK wasn't in there along for the ride! In fact, I can almost hear him now, "The Pain! The Pain!!".
