Is it worth the extra $$$ for those pliers? I got a few leathermans and am used to having a good set of pliers. Are they good enough for the size?

They're not in the same league as Leatherman's pliers, really not designed to tackle the same jobs. They're good for fine detail work, pulling fish hooks, grabbing and holding electronic connectors etc, but you wouldn't want to try turning a nut with them.

Personally I don't find them useful day-to-day so I'm more likely to carry my Champion than the Champ.

The SwissChamp is very popular, one sweet SAK, special but if your on a budget the ChampionPlus is a better deal.

Like Gareth said, the pliers are hobby like, nice but not in the same league as Plier-Based MTs and dedicated ones.

With the line of Swisstools now, I really don't see the appeal. If you want pliers I would recommend one of those- the Spirit is quite compact for a multitool and loaded with gadgets...

I carry both a Swisschamp ruby and a swisstool along with my griptilian. I mainly grab the swisschamp, but if i need pliers or a stronger tool i get the swisstool out. What about a buck xtract? I love mine...

The Champion plus is already pretty thick and fairly heavy at around 5.5 ounces. I wouldn't want to make it even heavier and thicker just for some pliers that are a little bit on the 'wimpy' side.

A Leatherman Squirt P4 compliments a Champion Plus well. The Plus carries better in a pocket, while the Swisschamp is nicer on a belt which is another factor to consider in deciding between the two.
