How does the battery life run on the victorinox tools? I'm intrigued by the Swisslite, but hesitant to swap out for the ever-trustworthy photon 2 on my keychain.

The Swiss lite is a decent backup lite but I've had trouble with them coming on in my pocket and draining the battery. Also, they are not nearly as bright as the Photon II. But you can always just attach the Photon II to the keyring and had the best of both. :-)

IMO the red LEDs that some Vics have, and I have owned several, are, at best, backup lights. If the Photon II is the only light you carry I would say without a doubt that a Swisslite will not serve as its replacement. The white LEDs that some larger models have are significantly better.

The red light is good when you want to be "covert". And when there is no light at all it lets you see a little plus doesn't wipe your dark adaptation.

I agree that the red LED is not bright enough for any serious light but does work ok for finding keyholes, map reading, etc. I'm quite curious about the light coming on in the pocket. I have never heard or experienced that. The white LEDs on some of the larger knives do have a tendency to come on in the pocket because of the exposed position of the switch.

I'm sure my photon has come on momentarily here and there in my pocket, but batteries last years under normal, EDC useage so thats not a big deal to me.

Sorry misread the name of the knife. I thought he was referring in general to the lite line like the Huntsman lite. I do agree even stronger now that the red light on the classic size is too dim for anything but the closest work. Or finding a keyhole. :)
