I just received a vic swisstool and the tools all have some wiggle. Who else has one ? Is this normal? Also this tool was dripping with oil, when I first opened the pliers they had oil pooled up in the plier heads! I guess I was expecting better. One more thing hows the warranty? I bought this off ebay not an authorized dealer I don't think.

Both of my Swisstool's have some up and down play in all the tools so I think it's pretty common. Mine are still fully functional and I wouldn't think it's enough to cause them to unlock under normal use. All the toold on my Spirit lock up tight though. The Swisstool is an older design though so I guess they got all the bugs ironed out for the Spirit.

Every Victorinox tool I ever bought has had a good amount of oil on it and I don't really see that as a bad thing. It's easy enough to wipe off.

If the play in the Swisstool makes you crazy try a Spirit, I'm sure all will be forgiven.

I have no side to side play in mine, but i had some up and down play. Actually, I take that back. I DID have side to side play, until i put my swisstool handle in a vice and squeezed it together some to tighten the tools up. Now it's perfect. It was only one side also.

I have a little play in some of the tools on my spirit, when they are all closed up the flathead screwdriver is slightly loose and if i shake the tool it makes a clicking noise.

But i still love it, the best folding knife / tool that i have ever had :D:thumbup:

Thanks Maybe I'll try the vice. How about that warranty ..... do you have to send it to switzerland?

Nah. Living in CT, i have a vic service center right in the state :-). So it would just get sent to the closest state with a service center. I brought it to the store i bought it at and they sent it there and shipped it back, i didnt pay a dime. The first one i had had play in the pliers, the second one had play in the tools which i fixed right up.

I have heard that swiss army has a pretty excellent warranty and they will swap things out for you. Mine has a little wiggle to all the tools, but i dont think its a big deal. I guess if it really bothers you, you could send it back, but try just using it and enjoying it.
