I thought with the other thread going on here about multi-tools and that the favorite in that thread seems to be the Swisstool, y'all might like this info.

I've got the new Victorinox 2000 catalog and it shows there are two new models this year other than the standard.

There is a "RS" (Rescue & Survival) which replaces the file with a curved seat belt cutter type blade. And replaces the serrated blade with scissors, which I think is great! scissors are the only tool I thought the Swisstool was missing from the start.

The other is the "X" model, this one just replaces the serrated blade with scissors.

I was hoping for news of a smaller version coming out this year, but no luck yet! I think I will upgrade my Swisstool this year though and get one of the RS models.

Wowzer! I'm up for the X model. I want to keep my file but I can live without the serrated blade.

Sparkles from the wheel.

With the addition of scissors, the SwissTool will be the perfect belt-carried toolkit.

How am I going to explain buying a new one?

Drats. Just when I thought the upcoming Gerber tool was the right answer, Victorinox has to make the decision difficult again.

FINALY! I think I see a 'x' model swiss tool in my future!

Clay,
All the catalogs I get are dealer etc... You might try calling their CS dept. 800-243-4045 or 800-442-2706.

BTW...Other new goodies are quite a few of the favorites offered with the new translucent handles and in colors.

A Climber version called the Altimeter, it has translucent red handels and a digital readout in the handle that shows Altimeter and Thermometer readings....Cool!

And yet another called the Lumberjack, it has a tiny pull start 2.5cc engine built into the handle which is used to power the 4in chainsaw.....Just kidding guys, Jeeeez, quit drooling!

They've also got a new Auto (as in automible not automatic) Tool. Pretty neat. Patrick at Triple Aught has them I think.

Yes your right they do make the "Autotool"...I posted on that I think in the review section? some time ago.

Wait until you have a chance to try one! To me it seems to be on the cheap and flimsy side. It has the same plier head as the other Swisstools, but they are off-set to one side, and under a good grip the hole handle bends. The tool is VERY large and WIDE. The tool also has way to much plastic in it for my taste.

I could go on, but check it out for yourselves! I think this one is a BIG flop.
