Hello all,

What are your opinions on these two multi-tools?

I read a thread on this forum comparing the SwissTool to the Leatherman Wave.

How does it compare to this Gerber model or any other Gerber model?

I am interested in both and plan on taking a look at them this weekend.

This will be my first multi-tool.

Thanks in advance.

For durabillity I would pick the swiss-tool any day. The Gerber may look cooler and the military background may also give a very high factor of coolness. But all the multipliers I have seen from Gerber (mainly the 600 series) have been granted a very poor fit and finish.

You should also try to do a search on the forums or at http://www.equipped.org (best tool reviews in the world!)

But the the best way is of course to have a first-hand-look at both the tool and then dicide what is best for you!

Good luck with your first multi-tool!

STOP!!!!!! WAIT!!!!!! Before you waste any money look at
Leatherman or Sog tools. I have owned both the tools you are
considering and they now rest in my dresser drawer becuse they
are......pardon me........junk. They look pretty buy they will not
be dependable at all.

Read the info on http://www.equipped.org to learn the truth.

Good hunting, mate.

My experience with the two tools has been pretty extensive. Although the Leatherman Pulse is my favorite tool, I think that the Swisstool is dependable and well made. I have had some problems with the Gerber tools. The pliers on the Gerbers are not entirely reliable. One note about the Swisstool, use some sand paper to "rough up" the ends of the screwdriver bits. It's also a little heavy but I've put the Swisstool through some rough use and have never had it fail.

Forgot to add. Check Equipped.org for the straight scoop.
