Swisstool ratchet or wrench

I have a Swisstool Spirit, but am considering getting the bit case and purchasing my own bits at the local Menards. The real question is it worth getting the ratchet and extension bar or simply go with the wrench?

It depends on what you do with your tools. I have a Swisstool Plus with the wrench, and before that I had the adapter thing that fit Leatherman tools. Both were useful for situations where you had to hold the screw with one hand while using the pliers to tighten the nut. But I found that for me, the convenience was outweighed (literally) by having to carry the extra weight of the bit kit etc. for the rare time I needed it. Most of the time the screwdrivers in the multi-tool are enough. Using the Swisstool wrench is like using a fancy Allen key, it works OK but I imagine the ratchet would be easier to use if you were going to use it a lot

That was very helpful. Thanks much.

Anyone else use the wrench or ratchet and can comment on their usefulness (or lack thereof due to the weight penalty)?

I have Spirit with ratchet and find it very useful. If you go with the ratchet, extension is a must. The only minus is the price - ratchet + extension are about 3x the cost of the wrench.
