There's a bit of play in the plier jaws on my spirit - about a millimetre or so. Am I being fussy or ar they usually pretty solid?

Thanks,

Mark

Mine had no play when new, Now that it is a couple of years old, it has a very small amount - less than a millimeter.

My Original Leatherman has a small amount of play. I know its a different tool but, I dont think it will hurt anything unless the play gets worse. I think your Swisstool comes with a lifetime warrenty.

Thanks - I'll leave it for now but I wasn't impressed cutting a bike brake cable just before Christmas as the jaws jammed and had to be prised appart.

I otherwise like the Spirit but I got myself a Leatherman Core for Chrismas which is the most solid tool I've yet owned (and I've had a few). I haven't had chance to try it but I'm also hoping the special multi-strand wire cutter will do the job on cables.

I sent the Spirit back to the UK service centre who agreed there should be no play in the plier jaws (it was probably about 0.5 mm but still felt a bit sloppy). Its now off on an 8 week journey to switzerland!

I'm slightly surprised that, considering the time taken to look at it in the UK and in Switzerland, plus postage, plus repair time they don't just replace it but at least it's being fixed.

In the meantime I've been using the LM Core which is a serious beast indeed - bit bulkier than the spirit!
