Swiza pocket khife safety problem - my experience with SH-02R

Hi all, and Happy New Year!

Sadly, my 2021 latest knife acquisition turned out to be my 2021 knife disappointment of the year...
I was late for a show with Swiza on purpose. I though well, this company is somwhat new to the knife world, let's give it some time to cure "childhood diseases".

So I waited for 5 years or so before I decided to get myself a Swiza SH-02R (which I mistakingly called SH-04 in the video - tells how sad I was :). See what happened:

I emailed Swiza support and sent them the link to this video. No reply so far.
For the time being, this is my first and last Swiza knife in my collection...

I agree with you that this is indeed a major safety flaw! I have friction folders and know how use them to do so safely. But *a false sense of safety* is just a bad (worse?) than no safety.

Are you able to just return it to the seller?

I don't want to :) I want to have a sample in my collection of "how not to make Swiss pocket knives" lol!

On a more serious note - I am not returning it anyway. I'll remove the scales and will see if I can work on those rivets a bit to reduce the horrendous amount of blade lateral play and see if it makes it any better. I'll try and figure out how difficult it can be to re-build this knife using "posts with screws" - this is the best I can describe those little things you can get for modding Victorinox pocket knives, if you want to get rid of rivets and use screws.

So this will be my test lab mouse. And oh man, I won't be gentle to it lol

Please keep us posted. I'd be very curious to see what you can do and to know what Swiza has to say about it.

whoa! that was shocking.
thank you for posting.
short of opening a pandora's box,
it seems you have potrayed
a product with a major
user safety issue.
now perhaps even with enough
legal grounds to make
the manufacturer liable
for any injury as a result thereof.
very sad indeed if this be the case.
the manufacturer has indeed
a responsibility to deliver
a trustworthy and safe product
and live up to its end.
imo, this could be the makings
of a catastrophy;
now that your video review
is out there for the world to see.
there is no denying
that its effectively gone public.
it would be interesting to see
if there are reports from other owners
with the same disfunctional lock issue to determin the seriousness
of the issue at hand.
it could get very sticky indeed...

in all you currently seem
to have a problem
which should be addressed
by the relevant party.
if indeed the manufacturer
is at fault for whatever reason,
it is only right
that the manufacturer
fixes this for everyone's sake.
you're right,
its a good looking product
but as of now its almost
my good luck of not having one !

New Swiza tt03 in the mail yesterday, same main blade lock up issue as the OP. The plastic tick tool is very delicate. I would not use it for anything but ticks, although that is why I bought it. This is not going to replace my dedicated SAK camper I carry with me for mountain hikes and in retrospect I should have bought a dedicated tick tool. I like the scales (orange with an elk) the ergo is reasonable and the rest of the functions are OK. This will be the only Swiza in my collection of about 30 other Victorinox. Is there an update SV_?

Cheers,
