  • Today marks the 24th anniversary of 9/11. I pray that this nation does not forget the loss of lives from this horrible event. Yesterday conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was murdered, and I worry about what is to come. Please love one another and your family in these trying times - Spark

Sword cane book or video ?

No, but I can tell you that the scabbard/cane is best made in a three piece construction. Sort of in a "T".

Cut a 1.5X1.5 piece of stock into two pieces measuring .5X1.5 and 1X1.5. Cut the 1X1.5 in half to make two .5X1.5. Mark the insides and outsides so you can keep them in alignment. Doing it this way as opposed to making three parallel cuts will keep the grain aligned in the final assembly. Shape the inner joint of the twin cuts to fit the blade. Just file/plane and hole together while checking the fit. It goes pretty fast. Once the blade sits in then "V", add the other piece as the top of the "T". Tape up tight and check the blade fit. Once all fits right, glue up the three pieces with a good grade wood glue like Tightbond II and you will have a snugly fitting scabbard. Shape into the cane and add the top and fittings. Done right this makes a cane with a perfect grain pattern and joints that are invisible.
