I bought the practical katana but when it got here the blade was really dirty. So has anyone got suggestions on the best sword cleaning kit and the best technique for cleaning.

By the way thanks to 888Knivesrus for the fast service.

They sell kits just for swords...has a powder that is patted on the soak up the old oil, rice paper, and then the fresh oil. I just clean my sword like I do my knives, with a sponge and the ruff back side of the sponge, and warm soapy water. Dry it well and a thin coat of gun oil. Gets them clean easy and they polish up fast.

Ok. I may try that thanks for the advice.I was wondering if anyone had suggestions on the best kit to buy?

Get some "Flitz"...that stuff will polish up metal like no tommorow.

Honestly unless you are just set on being all traditional buying one of those kits probably isn't necessary and from what I understand unless you get a high quality kit the uchiko powder can be of too high a grit and actually scratch your sword.
