Trying to determine the value of a stolen sword. Here the facts as I know them;

Maker: Sadamune
Register No.: Yamagata 341 (not sure what this means)
Condition: unk
Certification of authenticity issued May 8, 1931 (in Japanese, unable to read it)

If you had to have it evaluated who would you have do it?

Thanks

It's pretty much impossible to do without the blade present.

Associations like the NBTHK specialize in Japanese blades. They're a little specific, and the average antique dealer probably wouldn't be able to tell you much.

If the blade was stolen from you, and you're seeking a value for insurance purposes, I doubt there's anything certain that you can do, other than listing the price you paid. A serious value cannot be determined without a knowledgeable person holding and inspecting the blade itself.

Well, unfortunately the sword is not available, fortunately it was not mine.

one thing I forgot to mention is that it is approximately 400 years old. I recommended that they look into samuraisword.com site for help.

thanks again.
