Would anyone be able to help with identification of this sword? I came across it when I was out picking up an estate sale. I am not a sword collector but it's a very interesting piece. Any help is and guidance appreciated.

whoa. Matt's right, that is a Turkish Yataghan. Is there a scabbard? That looks very similar to some museum pieces, nice score there. The ones with bone or ivory handles like that one were normally used ceremonially and as such should be in better condition than the wooden-handled ones that were used by soldiers. I can't determine its authenticity by just the pics, but it can be over 200 years old if it is.

That's an interesting sword. Looks almost exactly the same as this one I saw when I looked up the sword on wiki:

I do not have the scabbard. I posted this on a few websites and from what I gather this is a good find. I have a few other swords I am going to post later on today. There not unique as this one... but there still very interesting. I hope you guys will be able to help me again. Thanks, Brett

You lucky, lucky bastid!!! :-D I need to swing through your neighbourhood!!! What did the lot of them set you back? For reference, you just scored over a grand worth of blades. ;-) I replied on your other thread before I saw this one...

Sometimes you catch a small fish... Sometime you catch a big fish. Right now I guess I caught a decent sized one.
